IRC 2019

The International Rover Challenge (formerly Indian Rover Challenge) is an annual robotics competition which features an engineering challenge to engage students worldwide in the next phase of space exploration. The competition challenges college students to design and build next-generation Mars Rovers and compete in Mars Simulated conditions. My team RoverX secured the 4th place among 25 teams that participated in the competition!

My role in the team

Since the competition was immediately after the URC 2018, we were not able to make a completely new rover! Instead as part of the mechanical team the major changes that were made to the previous rover 'Ares' are -

  • Completely revamped the design of the arm (which weighed way lesser as compared to before! but in hindsight it lacked in strength 😞)

  • Designed a new drill mechanism to collect soil samples
